Accessible Saalburg
The Saalburg as a reconstructed Roman fort and archaeological park has a special appeal for the blind and visually impaired. The extensive grounds and the fort buildings with their various functions offer intensive and varied sensory impressions.
The program specifically appeals to the haptic sense by giving visitors original finds and replicas specially selected from the magazine to illustrate the respective areas of the complex during the tour. Tactile plans help participants to orient themselves and understand the structure of the fort. At the end, visitors can experience for themselves what Roman clothing feels like and how the Roman soldiers were equipped.
