Accessible Saalburg
A new tactile model has been standing in front of the main gate of the Saalburg since February 2024. It shows the structure and architecture of the Roman fort as visitors experience it today. The model has a drive-under base and makes the special characteristics of a fort on the Limes perceptible to the fingers.
The installation of the model was made possible by the International Women's Club Frankfurt eV, which launched a fundraising project under the motto "Feel, see and understand - a tactile model for the Saalburg Roman fort".
The model provides new access to the reconstructed fort on the Limes not only for blind and visually impaired guests, but also for sighted guests.
It is freely accessible throughout the museum's opening hours.
