Celebration of the 50th anniversary of the State Office for Monument Preservation
We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the State Office for Monument Preservation with a colorful program. Various areas of the house present their work and current results of archaeological research. Take a look behind the scenes of the museum's operations and get to know the people who work there. Find out how research results are implemented in everyday museum life and which methods are used.
The programme is complemented by the very practical implementation of firing up the Roman ovens and the presentation of the Roman school. Attend a school lesson and taste the freshly baked bread from the Roman oven. Stroll through the Via Romana soldier camp from France and find out how much research has gone into reconstructing the equipment of a Gallic auxiliary soldier, for example.
The lecture by Thomas Lessig-Weller from the Keltenwelt am Glauberg provides insight into the work of colleagues in the other part of the State Archaeological Museum and explains the special importance of experimental archaeology for research and communication in the museum.
