Bronze casting craft course
In this two-day workshop, participants create their own bronze object using the lost-wax casting process. The possibilities range from tools and jewelry to small sculptures. The model is first formed in wax, then set in casting slip and fired overnight in a pit. On the second day, the kiln is built and operated together. Finally, all participants pour the molten bronze, heated to 1200°C, into their own molds by hand. The final steps involve grinding and polishing.
Polishing gives the workpiece its final shape and golden shine.
