Crafts course: comb weaving
After a brief introduction to the significance of wool as a raw material in antiquity, its processing, and its diverse applications, participants will learn the basic techniques of weaving. Then, under guidance and using a comb, they will weave their own band. Together, they will plan, prepare, and weave an individual band step by step. The band will be made from natural or plant-dyed wool yarn, which will be provided during the course. Participants will receive their own wooden comb and shuttle, which they can take home after the course – along with their handwoven band, of course.
The course aims to invite participants to experiment in a relaxed, creative and appreciative atmosphere and is suitable for anyone who wants to learn about historical craft techniques and try their hand at creative expression.
