Romans everywhere… Theme day with Roman camp and crafts
Spring has arrived, and with it, the Romans are returning to Saalburg from their winter quarters. Anyone who has ever wondered how Roman soldiers survived the winter and prepared for their summer campaigns shouldn't miss this weekend at Saalburg. The 4th Vindelici Cohort will set up their marching camp, demonstrate Roman camp life, and present their equipment and weapons. Even artillery in action will be on display, as well as another dangerous weapon of antiquity – the sling.
In addition, there is a diverse program with various activities related to Roman antiquity: craftspeople will demonstrate their skills, and there will be information about Roman art, music, medicine, education, and religion. This allows our museum visitors to experience all aspects of life firsthand, and of course, as always, there will be plenty of opportunities to try things out and participate.
