Open when public holidays in Hessen fall on a Monday.

Wearing period costume and equipment, particularly the carrying of weapons, is only possible with prior approval.

How to reach the Saalburg by car:

How to reach the Saalburg by public transport:

From Frankfurt take the S-Bahn (S5/Direction Bad Homburg/Friedrichsdorf) to the Bad Homburg Bahnhof; from there, a city bus (Line 5) travels several times daily to the Saalburg.

Alternatively, take the Taunusbahn (Line 15) from Bad Homburg or from Frankfurt (several times daily) to the Saalburg/Lochmühle Bahnhof. From this station, follow a footpath along the Limes to the Museum (a walk of about 45 minutes).

For groups (school classes, youth groups, adults) there’s a wide array of guided tours as well as active- and adventure-programmes. Find out about Roman times at the Saalburg: informative, exciting, active and entertaining – a leisure experience that’s really special.

Themed tours, after-hours tours, tours combined with activity and adventure (Roman archery, spear-throwing, presentation of roman dress and soldier’s armour), children’s birthday parties, guided hikes along the Limes.

Celebrations
From children’s birthdays to exclusive receptions or anniversaries – we arrange private parties in our historic buildings for groups from 20 to 120 persons, tailored to fit your individual needs. The fort also provides a much-appreciated, stylish setting for staff outings or business festivities.
