We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the State Office for Monument Preservation with a colorful program. Various areas of the house present their work and current results of archaeological research.
The ability to produce iron and thus steel from inconspicuous lumps of ore ushered in the Iron Age in Central Europe almost 3,000 years ago. And even today, in the age of high-tech plastics, it is difficult to imagine a world without steel.
As part of a 90-minute tour of the fort, the museum educational team from the Saalburg teaching staff offers the opportunity to get an overview of the existing buildings and exhibition areas and find out how they can be used.
Talk to the Roman rider about the training of horses in ancient times. The potter shows her craft and invites you to take part and try it out.
Apollo, god of archers, and Diana, goddess of the hunt, are the patron saints of our adventurous weekends with bow making, games, campfires and more.
Look over the shoulder of the lamp maker and the painter as they work and experience the materials and techniques used in practice.
