Die Saalburg um 1910

The Saalburg around 1910

Once a year we don't travel back in time to the Romans, but rather, exceptionally, to the era in which the Saalburg was rebuilt. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, archeology as a discipline was still in its infancy and more and more people were interested in the Roman buildings on the Saalburg Pass.

Immerse yourself in this exciting era with the actors from the Museumstheater Hessenpark and Facing the Past and experience the different views of reconstruction live and on site. During the dramatic tours, learn amusing anecdotes about the visits of high society to the excavations, which instruments were used to survey the site or what influence the large construction site had on the lives of the people in the area.

Short performances take place throughout the day in the mobile paper theater and round off the program for the whole family.
